MySpace announced this week that it was the target of a data hack, potentially involving 360 million accounts and over 400 million passwords.  (Editorial comment: who knew that MySpace was still that relevant?)

Most of the hacked credentials were created before 2013, giving some hope that the passwords are stale because they have been changed or accounts are no longer active.  However, profiles could still contain data that is useful to identity thieves, including social security number.

All of this on the heels of Tumblr’s recent 65 million password hack and LinkedIn’s breach of over 100 million records.  MySpace believes that the same Russian hacker is behind all three attacks.

They just keep getting bigger.
